Partly successful effortThe author�s efforts to present the predicaments of a low paid, salaried, single income employee and his eagerness to bring happiness on his daughter�s face on her birthday are successful. Exactly for the same reason, the throwing away of the frock is contradictory and is not convincing as many readers have already pointed out. The comparison of ordinary people's life with 'narukkedukkatha lottery tickets' is a high point. Overall, as a story, this fails to rise above the ordinary.
