Is this literary criticism?Everytime I read the mirror scan, I feel like the author has misunderstood the meaning of the word "criticism". The value of a critique is not about the degree of harshness of the blows given, is it? I thought it is more about "careful evaluation and judgement" (at least according to a dictionary in front of me).....I do not see much "evaluation" in the article, but more of "opinions". It is "why" and "how" that the readers (and authors too) expect of a critique, not just "what". Also I felt that the critique needs to definitely tone down his voice and language when he talks about real living people. There has to be some difference between writing an article on something and gossipping with a friend on the same subject.
I shared this feeling because Mirror Scan is becoming Puzha's column for literary criticism, and hence has lot of value attached to it.
