Signs of stagnation

Any reader who has followed Reeni's stories would have by now become too familiar with the middle aged woman protagonist who tries to maintain the delicate balance between her marital vows and the temptations of an extramarital relation in an American context. The predicaments of the American Born Confused Desi (ABCD) generation as 'brown(hard) outside and white (soft)inside' too had appeared in some of Reeni's earlier stories. The novelty here is only in the term she has coined –coconut. Reeni appears to have fallen into a whirlpool of repetitive themes. Such signs of stagnation are not good for a talented writer who has penned some very good stories, especially the one on the backdrop of 9/11.
