Most stories of great writers from the past which are selected in this section are real gems. This story by Tatapuram is no exception. A man whose wife is terminally sick gets occasional sexual gratification from a CSW in a nearby town. The physical pleasure leads to immense pain as his conscience is haunted by guilt. An extremely relevant theme even in the contemporary context when the definition of sin itself has undergone profound transformation.

I request the Editor to include a similar selection of poems by well known poets in the poetry section.

A BEACON OF HOPE FOR HUMANITY

Bindu R Thampy's anthology of poems entitled 'Sanjivani' is a commendable exercise in the art of poetic composition.The title 'Sanjivani' is very apt, pregnant as it is with layers of meanings.In popular mythology 'Sanjivani' is a panacea potent enough to confer immortality on the user.The poetess means that her poetry can be a therapy for sick and ailing souls.As in her poem 'Porul'a note of robust optimism enlivens her poetic visions besides lending a new verve to her poetic diction.

Bindu has mastered the art of making silence speak and a reader can listen to unheard melodies in her poem.Time is a recurring theme in her poems.In 'Purappad' she says that a poem is an arrow shot from the present to infinity.Chiseled words and felicitous phrases that abound in her poems make the reading of her poetry a rewarding and fruitful experience.There is no gainsaying the fact that the full blossoming of creativity will make Bindu an accomplished poetess.
