I personaly like the malayalam langauage and read the books and magazines even now after the 17 years of migration. It doesn't mean that my conscious level still act as a language fanatic.The love for "own" language always stood there with the English. The English language always act as a common medium language in all circumstances
Secondly as a state and its economy depends on money order remittances from other states/countries could never possible to stick to the "only" vernacular language culture. But the people have to think in realistic way combined with a balanced approach rather than making "our first or your first" attitude.
