I have not read the book mentioned in the article. But, from whatever references this article has provided, it looks as if both the article and the book itself, has taken some extreme views on Atheism and religion.
I completely agree to the viewpoint that many atheists are hardcore humanists.
(i) "Saddam hussainu ee durgathi varumayirunno" was a really funny analogy. Even when the world was bi-polar both USSR and USA sponsored proxy-wars between Iran and Iraq.
(ii) India is not just socialist republic. It is democratic republic as well. Which part of that is existing in China, Socialism or Democracy?
Summing up, Freedom is the key-word that has moved humanity ahead. Neither religion, nor atheism, and not even communism can be an alternative to that. Where freedom exists, humanity prospers. It didn't exist in Russia, it perished. Now it doesn't exist in China either.
I think our communist party should accompany our Atheletics team to Beijing. It should be a good eye opener for them.
