A Very Good StoryThe author sends a strong commentary on the contemporary Kerala society and tries to tear apart some of its facade. With every successive festival, Onam, Vishu, Christmas and New Year, Keralites try to break the previous record on money spent on liquor as if this is a sport in which the prestige of the entire State is involved. Children of the same parents need to recourse to alcohol to unwind and open up before their own siblings. In the drinking spree, the social messages of these festivals are often forgotten. A very good short story.
