lift irrigation projectsThere are some contributions of Krishna Iyerto country which were never publicised nor given credit .As irrigation minister in EMS ministry he implemented many lift irrigation schemes in Ernakulam dist( I have no knowledge about other districts).Rice farmers like my grandfather is indebted to him.Before that we used hand irrigation(theval as we call) wehich occupied most our grand parents time and effort.The rice production in our area multiplied several fold bringing prosperity to regeon in 60s when rice cultivation was the only source of income for ordinary folks.
