The author attempts to re-tell the famed Vanaprastham in the contemporary setting. He traces the evolution of a love affair over the years and its eventual degeneration into a mutually agreeable arrangement where a poor woman, apparently in her late fifties (?) proposes to share her body with a man once she loved, for money and a few days of comfortable stay in a hotel. The author makes a deep look at 'love' from the perspectives of a man and a woman from different social strata and with different emotional, physical and financial needs.
An excellent story.
