This desert religion started only 2000 years back. Even 4000 years back people were advanced in agriculture, plant breeding etc without any 'amens'. FYI- These religions originated from Sanathana Dharma. It didnt originate in any desert or antartica.

Proving Christian identity in Kerala was not my intention. I was just pointing out that when Christianlity began in Kerala, there was no Hindus. It might be a missionary history or someone's history - there is no science to prove that. Hindus are , just like other religions, adopted to Kerala culture. Paul appears to be little informed about the history or general agreement among historians on arya-dravida cultures and histories. BJP/Sangh parivar sponsored historians
and excavators would even digg up Ganapati evidences from Mecca and even claim that Buddists were hindus first then buddists.

Jainism was the first organized religion to
reach Kerala. During the reign of Emperor Chandragupta Maurya (321-297 BC) the Jain saint Bhadrabahu is believed to have brought the religion to Kerala. Several Hindu temples, like the Koodalmanickam temple, are considered to have originally been Jain shrines. Jainism is supposed to have flourished till about 500 AD

Next came Buddhism, introduced by the missionaries of Emperor Ashoka. Buddhism flourished in Kerala from 200 BC till around 800 AD. Vadakkunathan temple at Thrissur and several others were reportedly Buddhist shrines. The Hindu community of Ezhavas, believed to have been Buddhists who migrated from Ezham (Sri Lanka), still show the influence of Buddhism.

Local rulers of Kerala began to bring in Brahmins from the North and settle them with gifts of land and privileges. The Brahmins brought Aryan beliefs and practices to Kerala. They had a well-developed language, Sanskrit, and knew about the relationship between seasons and agriculture.

The Brahmins were able to impress the rulers and the people, and began to impose their religion and social system in Kerala. They could not completely ignore local beliefs and customs, and so the Hinduism in Kerala incorporated local deities and practices. Unlike in the North, it was a tantric form of worship that gained acceptance here.

Local rulers began a temple building spree all over Kerala. Many Jain and Buddhist shrines were converted into Hindu temples. Formal practices for temple construction and rituals were developed. The tantra samuchaya, for example, lays down the Hindu temple practices in Kerala.

Changes in land-ownership laws led to the Brahmins losing much of their land to tenants who were cultivating them. Brahmins lost their social pre-eminence and their place was taken over by other communities, notably the Nairs.

They succeeded in converting backward and poor Hindus to their religion, (not forward Hindus, as believed by someone, since they had good social and financial status at that time).

Mr. Josepheee, who did your statistic survey and from where u got it?
For finding this fact don't go for a complicated and tiring survey. Just consider your (Christian managed) college or school that you studied.
Try to make a rough calculation of the Christians and non-Christian staffs. I'm sure that more than 90% are Christian staff and majority of them were paid huge amount for their job.

ആദിമ ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികളെപ്പറ്റി പറഞ്ഞത്‌ ശരിയാണെന്നു തോന്നുന്നില്ല. തോമാസ്ലീഹാ വന്നു എന്നു തന്നെയാണോ താങ്കള്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നത്‌? ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികളെപ്പറ്റി സൂചന തുടങ്ങുന്നത്‌ 3-4 നൂറ്റാണ്ട്‌ മുതലാണ്‌. അല്‍പം മുന്‍പ്‌ തന്നെ ഹിന്ദുമതം ഇവിടെ എത്തിയെന്നാണ്‌ ഞാന്‍ മനസ്സിലാക്കിയിട്ടുള്ളത്‌.

Idea of AsianetI am sure there is interest of jury and channel to promote some singer like Vijay. I don't think anything relegious about this. Personaly I feel that Vijay was worst than Najim. However everybody has to understand that bottom line is channel interest. This is a business for them. The program that we are watching is fully under the control of program producer and the pre planned script. Participants, parent and judjes are just acting for that script including the emotional scenes in elimination round. Keep in mind that the talented singer will not be selected at the end of the program.
If all the people stop SMS to this program, tomorrow Asianet will wind up this program. We people have to discuss about where is the money they are collecting through SMS. This money they are using to provide "Flat" and expense for the program. Then why they are advertising that "IDEA" Star singer. This is completely a people sponsored program not by IDEA or "CONFIDENT". What a fantastic idea by Asianet and IDEA to use people pocket even without knowing them!!!!

I don't understand why the victim's sister is saying that she would have killed her sister if she had a knife. Did the little girl do something wrong? A rape victim is not a "lost case". Life doesn't end just because a woman is raped. I think that is what women in Kerala need to hear. The fear of rape is keeping women locked in their homes and (conveniently for men) out of the public sphere. Statistics say that in the US, 1 in 3 women have been sexually assaulted at some point in their lives. But that's not keeping anyone at home cowering in fear. Women live, work, and move around in every corner of society, at all times of the day. A rape victim doesn't commit suicide or live out their life in self pity. Indians need to lose the age-old, idiotic idea that a woman's virginity is a prized possession. It's a ploy to keep women from being active participants in society. If you look at pictures of a kerala political rally, an ulsavam, or any public gathering place, you will wonder if there are no women left in the place. They're hiding at home, afraid to go buy their own groceries, for fear that they will be "violated".

I know that the writer is sincere, but such pieces only stoke more fear among women, helping to continue this vicious cycle.

My comments on the responses

The responses on this article makes me to respond towards some of it with my comments.

1. Some of the respindents here are to stil understand that this is not just a blog where they can write any thing, this magazine is read by thousands of Malayalees across the world and keep it decent. I strongly felt bad about Mr. Naveen from Bangalore's comments which hurt me and my family as readers of this magazine. Naveen can really critize and share his views about the article and the program. If some one wants decides write badly, they can write it to the personal email of the writer or the editor. As Mr. Unni from Singapore said we Malayalees have to keep our dignity and decency of this site

2. Don't take it as a religious attitude. This is the problem in our country, actually created by our politicians. If you try to think that this is religious affinity towards any singer, it will create chaos across our journalism and literature. Just names doesn't carry any religion. After all we don't know the religion of the writer. As Binu and Pathmaja were mentioning,we should not at any point have such a thought of religious bias while reading it.

3. Lastly after saying this much, I think I should comment on the article. I felt the writer is partial towards the singer. But I think he takes him who was no.1 as an example to discuss the partiality in promoting the undeserved candidates and talking about the ethics of commercialism or the impact of globalization in art and literature.
